Sometimes you just have to cheat

Published by helen at 8:50 pm under Off the Top of my Head

Particularly when blogging is at stake.

Yup. It’s been a rubbish day- for both of us- and no tea was planned or even on the horizon. Failure of domestic economy, failure to adjust to new lifestyles, just general failure.

So I threw money at the problem. Not too much money, mind, but it was worth it.

Fishcake, cheaty fishcake

These are not just fishcakes. They came from that shop, and had drizzley tomato stuff on them. The roasted tomatoes and salad were my own making though. And Bath Ales. On a Thursday!

Did the drizzly tomato stuff come with them from that shop, or what it yr own creation? Roasted tomatoes? Did they go in the oven with the fish cakes or did you just happen to have some lying around? (Maybe the fish cakes were panfried?)

Whatever, it looks like a nice wee feast

Re-reading yr post, clearly the drizzly stuff was theirs. Did it have anything over Heinz tomato ketchup, which I have been known to drizzle (hah!) over fish cakes in the past?

    hmmmmm…fish cakes…(think homer simpson drooling)…
re: your hysterical comments on my blog, the square (yes, i know, i’m a freakin’ GENIUS) placemats can only come 9.5 inches wide (tis the size of my screen) larger pieces might look odd with an obvious ‘blocky’ weird edge mess if you get my meaning…just thought you might like to know before convo-ing me with crazy order postage combos :)
    have a great w/e!

discovering comments I’ve never replied to….university is ruining all sorts of thing!

K: The drizzley stuff was *very* sundried tomatoey, and perhaps a bit much. Ketchup might actually have added a certain freshness. We’ve since eaten the other packet of fishcakes I bought that night (they were on a Two-fer) and they too had drizzle which didn’t add a great deal. Clearly M&S feel the need to add added value, to make them ‘not just fishcakes’ but miss the point that actually their fishcakes taste pretty good, as they are!

Lu: The square placemats now have fantastic rule over our new coffee table. I am filled with joy! The living room is once step closer to ‘finished’ as a consequence :o)
