In sight
You lot don’t know this yet, as I have been horribly remiss in my blogging (hey, it’s Christmas!)* but we only have FOUR recipes to go.
*(and I’m back dating all my posts so they’ll cleverly fall into place before this entry and confuse you all!)
Forgive me, I am a ‘lurker’ who has been following your fantastic blog for a few months now, after happening upon it during a Nigella Google.
I am studying with the Open University, and there is a very active food and drink forum amongst the students. You have inspired us to have a go at a cookery book challenge ourselves in 2009! My choice is Nigel Slater’s Kitchen Diaries as it is seasonal and many of the recipes are simple – some might say austere (a bowl of plain rice for tea, anyone?) – with some others being more challenging!
Anyway, just to say thanks again for the brilliant entertainment, and the fascinating insight into Nigella’s book. Well done for all the cooking!

Maggie, thank youso much for your comments, they mean a lot to Dougal and Me. We’ve had a great wee year cooking this book. I’m delighted to hear that other people are giving the idea a go; if you’re going to blog it too then please let me know once that’s going so I can follow your successes!
I told some friends you’ve gone for Kitchen Diaries and they send their regards to your arteries! We’ve managed Nigella without putting on any weight though, so I’m sure you’ll be fine! Kitchen Diaries isnt’t a book I know at all well, having only ever flicked through it at their house, but I do remember it seeming beautiful and a great concept. We’ve got Real Fast Food which is a lovely book with that same conversational feeling and passion for food. That said we still don’t cook nearly enough from it!
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic and kind words, and most of all for de-lurking! Good luck and good cooking in 2009!
